Island Cabin - Sitka, Alaska

A small cabin is nestled above a rocky island beach near Sitka, Alaska. Designed as a simple, economical form for ease of construction, the cabin is oriented to capture expansive views of the Sitka Sound and distant volcano. An operable lower-level window wall opens the interior directly to the outdoors on favorable days, strengthening the connection between shelter and site. Dark wood siding allows the cabin to recede quietly into the forested setting and rugged coastal landscape.

This is a conceptual study.
